Masking Unleashed

AECP Level 2

It is a beautiful hot summer day in Florida!  The clouds are big white and fluffy.  I hope you are all crafting close to a window so you get inspiration from the sunshine!

Oh My Goodness I can hardly believe that Masking Unleashed is my final Level 2 AECP (Altenew Educational Certification Course).  Masking is a skill that enables you to place items so that they can over lap each other without over lapping design details.  Below are two of the cards I did using masking techniques.  If you have never used masking I would suggest that you go to look at the education tab and sign up for this class.  Try it you'll like it!!!

For the yellow flower card I used the Spring Daisy and Life is beautiful stamp and die sets.  You can find these sets and more at  The mini inks I used are from the Golden Sunset, Delectable Delights, Frayed Leaf and Forest Green. I stamped the outline for the center flower with the Altenew Black permanent die.  I then used a flower die cut from masking paper to cover it up and stamped the outline of the two outside flowers.  I covered all three with masking die cuts to protect them and stamped the leaf outlines.  Then I stamped the sentiment in the bottom left corner of the card stock.  Masking paper has a light adhesive on the back of it to hold it in place while you stamp over it.  I helps protect the item or items that were stamped first.  I then went back and did the layers of the flowers and leaves masking as I went along.   I removed all the masking and mounted the card front to a piece of black card stock and then glued that to the card front.  I stamped three butterflies and used markers to color them. I added Three gold sequins for dimension.   It makes a nice summertime card for any occasion.
For the second card I first stamped all flowers using masking tape as I went along .  My flowers and leaves are all two layer stamping.  Mini Inks Golden Sunset, Glacier Caves, Tea party and Tropical Forest were used to color this card.  I added my leaves using the masking process. I used masking on all the stamped images and added the vase stamped image.  I stamped the sentiment in the bottom left corner and splattered the background with blue and black ink.  I die cut one of the rose colored flowers and two leaf sets and mounted them using foam tape for a little dimension.  I didn't care for the card just flat on the card front(my personal preference).  I added a dark blue card stock  to the back and glued the whole thing to the card front.  I then added Nuvo drops and some Wink of Stella to the flowers and the leaves.  This is a multiple use card.  Birthday, Get Well, Anniversary etc.

These were so much fun to make.  Even those this is the last class from Level 2 there will be more posts to follow.  I will continue to share what I've learned and am learning in hopes that some of you will follow in my path.  If I can answer any questions please leave me comments and questions.  #lindashellerhuffman; #Altenew; #AECP
Have a wonderful weekend.
